Our memberships

Independent Food Aid Network

Although Brackley Foodbank is entirely independent and run by its volunteers, we are members of the Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN) which is the UK network of independent food aid suppliers.

Through our membership, we were signatories to their recent letter to the Prime Minister and Chancellor, expressing our concern about the increasing pressure on foodbanks and similar local charitable organisations.

The Daily Express recently (25th April 2022) covered this issue. Almost all foodbanks (99%) have seen a surge in demand since the start of the year, according to community-giving platform, Neighbourly, and Aldi – which work together to distribute surplus food from the supermarket’s stores. An estimated one in three people who are going to the banks had never needed them before.

Food Aid Alliance West Northants

On a more local level, we are also members of the Food Aid Alliance West Northants (FAAWN) who have also recently (1st April 2022) written to Chancellor Rishi Sunak urging a rethink of some of the changes made in the Chancellor’s Spring Statement.
